COVID-19 is being used in a variety of malicious campaigns including email spam, BEC attack, ransomware, and other scams.
As the number of those afflicted continues to surge by thousands, campaigns that use the disease as a lure likewise increase. Trend Micro Research has been reporting on how COVID-19 has affected the threat landscape.
Recent findings include how scammers took advantage of the surge in online activity during the pandemic, targeting businesses and buyers that were settling into new ways of transacting. We also look into how these attacks will affect our current and future digital economy and practices, such as:
