'The Imitation Game: Can You Start To Win The Social-Engineering War?'

How’s your business doing when it comes to keeping on top of your social-engineering risks? As far as you know, not too badly. The physical red-team tried to get to the boardroom by wearing a high-vis and carrying a clipboard but didn’t make it through the front door; and just last week the PA to the head of marketing spotted a particularly devious spear-phishing attempt before clicking anything. You’re never going to get complacent, but you do occasionally allow yourself a satisfied smile when you hear about a competitor who hasn’t done quite such a bang-up job.

But wait: how come your CEO has not one, but 14 different profiles on LinkedIn? And these two websites that look like yours, but are hosted in a country where you don’t have an office and where attacks are known to originate from: what’s that all about? Are the attackers impersonating your business?

It sounds far-fetched, but, increasingly, these are real-world scenarios. Social-engineering attacks are no longer confined to the occasional opportunistic phishing attempt. Thanks to easy-to-make deepfake videos and email campaigns turbo-charged by large language models, identity controls and multi-factor authentication are being bypassed routinely. And entire businesses are being compromised when attackers evade those entirely by targeting not the network, but the brand.

In cybersecurity, we know there’s no silver bullet. But Doppel reckon they have something that might be almost as good. Their social-engineering defence platform may at first terrify you by alerting you to the scale of a vast part of your risk profile you probably don’t realise you have; but will then help take that pain away by showing you how to disrupt and dismantle the attackers’ infrastructure, and build back your resilience through training that works.

Digital risk protection alone isn’t enough; Human Risk Management can’t singularly solve for this. Doppel’s platform brings two core security disciplines together to break every stage of the social engineering attack chain.

Join a group of your fellow senior cybersecurity leaders, and representatives from Doppel, for an evening of fine dining and a high-quality conversation about how to stop the fraudsters and fakers, and regain control of your brand, your data and your reputation.
