'When, Not If: Is Your Business Truly Ready For The Next Ransomware Attack?'

There isn’t anyone with even the most tenuous grasp of cybersecurity awareness who is in any doubt about the severity of the threat posed by ransomware. And there isn’t a business anywhere in the world that’s not taking that threat seriously. But the adversaries are always adapting, always changing their tactics, techniques and procedures; so defenders can’t rely on what’s worked in the past guaranteeing protection in the future.

Take your endpoint detection and response tools. Generally, they do a great job – until they don’t. Whether they’re using generative AI – and, apparently, 78% of security leaders believe AI has made ransomware more effective, while only 6% reckon it’s helped aid defenders – or whether they’re nation-state actors capitalising on ever-increasing geopolitical instabilities, adversaries are finding ways around even the best EDR deployments. They’re still vital, but they’re no longer enough.

Halcyon was founded to tackle the ransomware epidemic, and views it through the lens of the advanced threat. The firm has established the first Ransomware Operations Centre (ROC), to manage detection, remediation and recovery for clients; and it also runs a Ransomware Research Centre which tracks new and known threat actors.

The RRC is run by Cynthia Kaiser, a former deputy assistant director of the FBI’s cyber division. She’ll be speaking at InfoSec about some of what Halcyon’s RRC has discovered on the dark web (and elsewhere) about adversary groups, which industries they’re targeting, and how their TTPs are changing. Later that evening, she and Gary Hayslip, Halcyon’s field CISO and senior security advisor, will be continuing these conversations in the informal and intimate setting of a RANT roundtable.

Join an elite group of your fellow senior cybersecurity leadership peers for deep background intelligence-sharing and open-minded discussion on how your business can build real resilience against the scourge of ransomware.
