'Rocket From The Crypto: Why Your Business Needs To Prepare For An AI-Turbocharged Post-Quantum World'

The last thing any CISO really needs is to have to start looking for threats beyond today’s visible horizon, but the prudent security leader is already thinking about the post-quantum world. The challenge is straightforward, even if the problems are far from simple. Today’s encryption standards work because today’s computers are not powerful enough to break them – but a combination of emerging technologies threatens to obliterate that protection at a stroke.

The advent of quantum computing will exponentially increase the speed and capability of codebreaking systems; and today’s large language model generative AI tools are already solving hitherto impossible mathematical problems and finding weaknesses in existing crypto algorithms. AI is chipping away at the foundations of encryption, and quantum computing will hit like an earthquake.

When unbreakable encryption isn’t possible, security isn’t possible. Never mind zero trust: this is a scenario in which there is zero protection. This is where One Intelligence comes in. A new company founded by mathematicians, engineers and cryptographers from leading universities, financial-services firms and technology companies, the startup is proposing an approach it calls Generative Trust Infrastructure. This posits encryption on the data-transport layer, with keys of manageable size, and less latency than today’s technology. Unlike current standards, there’s no cross-fingers-and-hope element: the hardness of the encryption is mathematically provable. And the system is deployable via an SDK, meaning users won’t have to spin up a team of cryptography specialists before they can start using it, and won’t need to replace or install any expensive hardware.

Existential threats demand transformative responses, and challenges don’t come much bigger than post-quantum security. Is it really possible to solve this problem simply, seamlessly and inexpensively? To find out, join members of the One Intelligence team, and a select group of your fellow senior security leaders, for another RANT-enabled evening of fine dining and robust discussion.
