'Machine learning, human risk: Why AI security is a people problem'

Almost every cybersecurity conversation starts off being about technologies, but quickly becomes a discussion about people and policy. The chat around AI, and large language-model systems, is no different. Boards want to embrace the potential of generative AI, but need to be sure they’re not ignorant of the dangers. And staff want to realise the productivity benefits that generative AI offers without feeling as though robots from the future are going to come and take their jobs.

Understanding what AI will mean for your business means understanding, and correctly anticipating, how people will use the technology. If an adversary is using AI tools to help them avoid the spelling and grammar errors that you rely on to spot a phishing email, will your signature-detection systems be able to pick up the new and improved version? If someone in the business is using AI to improve next month’s big announcement, does that mean that they’ve cut-and-pasted sensitive proprietary information into a machine-learning database? And if so, what does that mean for your bottom line?

Although there are risks posed by AI, there are also the opportunities it brings in terms of improving detection and response as an integrated part of your defensive strategy.

Join a select group of your cybersecurity peers, and representatives from our hosts Mimecast, for a virtual roundtable where we’ll be discussing how to improve security in the era of generative AI, and the role of the human in our increasingly automated future. All this while enjoying a delicious cheese and wine hamper from the comfort of your home.
